I am one of those people who payed the small fortune and I tell you it was worth it!
I went to Antarctica and the Falklands and South Georgia was my favorite by far.
You must have a lot of great memories.

spent 6 months on the island in 1992. I was a Royal Engineer(ARMY)Electrician. There were 8 RE'S and about 30 - 35 infantry. It was a unique experience. People have to pay a small fortune to visit South Georgia. So I consider myself to be extremely lucky to have stayed there for free.
