The FBI's 15K Informants

Mother Jones has done an in-depth investigation into the FBI's massive network of informants, unveiling that the bureau currently maintains a roster of over 15,000 spies, most of them tasked with infiltrating Muslim communities. And for every informant officially listed in the bureau's records, there are as many as three unofficial ones. Trevor Aaronson at the Center for Investigative Reporting at University of California at Berkeley explains this investigation.

It's a crony system. Most informants are the children of cops and do innocuous tasks for extra cash. Guys use it as a way to pick up hot chicks.

A domestic dispute between a boyfriend and girlfriend or ex spouse is NOT a national security issue! Even if one of them has friends working for the government. The lone wolf provision is a sick joke. Vigilante groups are gaslighting people because someone is outsourcing serious jobs to everyday people who misuse the authority that is bestowed upon them to commit crimes against targeted individuals. Breaking and entering, vandalism, intimidation tactics...the list goes on and on.
