The Army is dispatched to record the success of the explosion and the effects of the artillery, trucks dummies and foxholes.
This is not meant to celebrate the power of the atom or glorify mass annihilation but to help put us on guard to our neighbors who have the bomb, and to remember the human beings vaporized, burned and sickened by a force no country has the wisdom to use.
The movie here is not Hollywood special effects. It is a color film documenting a test in NM. The nuclear bomb is real, as is the red heat at the top of the mushroom cloud. The only mannequins you see are the ones already "killed" by the bomb amongst turned over vehicles. Notice the one empty bunker: probably a vaporized mannequin. Many of the other soldiers, the real soldiers, were radiated and would later succomb to the effects of beta burns and internal radiation poisoning.

Guys saw a documentary on this there were about 1200 soldiers used to study effects of radiation on humans 35 are still alive today

Have you seen the Tsar Bomba? Now that's pieces through strength. Don't think they'll be anything left but bits of humanity. Now it seems the Russians are winning through sheer charm (at least in D.C.).

And so many people in this area have cancer...but this is my home. I love it's beauty, but not that we tested one of the ugliest inventions known to man kind here. I love the beauty of the desert that is to say and my loved ones and the simplicity.
