First recording of the group as PAINIM WOK,they were known previously as MOLACHS-.This was recorded using a very basic Tascam 4-Track reel-to-reel ¼ inch analogue recorder, mixing down through a 4-channel mixer with basic on-board effects and equalization to a ¼ inch 2-track tascam stereo reel-to-reel master recorder. With regard to recording a full band like Painim Wok or "Barike,"Sound Engineer Greg C Seeto would do many takes and mix-bounce these to two-track, back to 4-track and continue overdubs until satisfied. Most of the tracks at the time were recorded raw [no fx and compression, etc.] Because he was a musician, the rest of the tricks and good output of the final production of those early recordings was a result of his creative imaginations.
This PAINIM WOK group was led by a young lead guitarist,JOHN WARBAT, and had singer George Telek,Drummer Henry Maniot,David Kepas,Warkol Kaia and Namur.Painim Wok is the most successful PNG rock group, they sold so many mega hit albums and went on to put their lead singer,George Telek,on the international stage, winning an Australian ARIA award in 1997-a feat that has never been matched by todays computerised musicians of PNG.
