More than 2 months ago I had a really bad injury during a musical: one of my entrances was a simple tumble pass, ro-bhs-jesus backflip, but at the moment of the jump for the jesus I felt a very strange "snap" in my ankle and I started losing the feeling of my foot. Unfortunately they didn't film my combo, btw I landed crouched and I rolled out of the stage to hide the thing, thinking it could be a simple sprain as I could still move the foot. But at the time that I touched my ankle I realized there was a missing piece: that incredibily strong cordon which is the Achille's tendon was ripped in two parts, torn apart for 3 cm, and I could touch the two extremities moving around the calf. It was one of the worst moment i've ever had. I was immediately brought to first aid and the day after I had surgery, they opened my leg and stitched my tendon up.
Now it's been 64 days since the operation and I still have crutches and the leg sling so that I can't walk nor anything.
I started rehabilitation but obviously it'll take a long time before I can simply run, and there's no certainty about my come back to tricking: once stitched up, the tendon gets shorter, less strong and flexible so perhaps I could be able to do some acros, but I don't know how good...for sure I'm done with some particular moves.
As you can imagine, this wasn't an easy period to me: I had to get used to the idea that I could be forced to stop doing what i've always loved , what I've always been focused on in order to costantly improve, what was a lifestyle. Also, this incident totally upset my daily life: I've had to abandon most of my main activities, going to classes, going to work, obviously doing shows and training, simply going out etc. There was nothing but my room.
Anyways, these are some of the things I've been training/learning in this weeks as these are the only movements I can do without using my right leg (I couldn't film them all coz I trained too much, and now I have an inflammation to my arm xD ), but I'm still happy coz i'm discovering a new range of stuff I could do in case I couldn't trick anymore, I need to find new alternatives :)
No doubt I'll try with all my strenght to get back to the level I used to be though, I love too much what I do.
Just wanna say to everybody to take care while training, one never thinks shit could happen to himself, but it may. Don't try reckless tricks just to show off, it's not worthy.
Also, do not overlook your pains just coz you don't wanna stop training, they may only get worse up to a point of no return. If something hurts it's a signal from your body, listen to it. It's always better a few weeks of rest than who knows how much time of rehabilitation.
Obviously I've even been lucky coz sooner or later I'll be back to normal life, and I thank for this, but there are cases in which things go much worse.
For 1000 times you fall and fortunately nothing happens to you (and for this you don't pay attention to it and don't learn from your mistakes) you just need one damn time to make a serious mess. And things do not always get back the same.
On the other hand, injuries are really good teachers, I've never been injured before and I learned more in this 2 months than in one whole year: you understand the value of the simple things you used to have and it's priceless when they slowly come back; you learn to be patient and to adapt yourself to different and possibly harder situations; things that you used to consider problems or real bothers appear much more simple and of lil importance; with the right attitude you can find awesome alternatives and passions even in things you already used to do but that you never put too much effort in.
That's all, keep (safe) tricking!
cya soon!
But what move have you done when you felt that snap in your ankle? Or was a mistake of you? Haven't you done correct that move ? By the way, good video, it means "Never give up". :)
