How to change your rear beam / axle on your 306 / xara etc. Simple job to do, and if upgrading to a gti beam can make for a much nicer car!

  • my hdi d turbo rear wheels are leaning inwards very bad .. one is nearly rubbing the liner ...

  • Ah, that will be your rear beam bearings shot, either get a rebuild kit, or tbh, just change the beam for another one!

  • thats what i thought darren ..i love the car to much to get rid of it .. are the beams easy to find in good nic .

  • fairly, try your local breakers yard...

  • 2) it's a good idea to replace the bushes when doing it's cus i thorght mine were fine when i did mine and 1 was quite shit and now i've goto drop the beam again to change then :(

and lol to how ya roll over the beam, nice and gentle lol

  • Well if you check over the bushs, you can see if there knackered fairly easily, its a bit of an expense to replace them if there not gone. And as for the nuts, you could do this, but if u have it jacked proper, it shudnt fall down, like i said, un do them all till there almost off, then take them right off, then if anything slips it wont fall

  • Hi mate good vid I'm changing my brakes from drum to disks nd think by looking at this video I'll just change whole axel wt do I need to change like u said with the brake cabels

  • I found that u cant change the backing plate of the drum - (if ur new axle has a diffrent diameter drums, u cant change ur old brakes onto the new axle if diffrent ) I had to fork out for new brakes (shoes and cylenders), plus there is 2 diffrent sizes of cables for diffrend drums, i also had to replace them. Wasnt a bad job but it meant i had to pay extra for changing the size of my drums. Plus i had to swap over my load valve.

  • hi i want to know as if a bridge is in good condition back in bad shape oh

  • ayup m8 .. u no u sed if ya drums stickin beat it with a hammer... 3 hours n no joy u got any tips??.... have u put the vid on that shows u how to adjust ya back brakes.. cheers 4 the vids m8 there a big help
