I love War Pass ! I feel he will definitely be a formidable contender in the TC races .
A powerful horse with a lot of spunk - spectacular to watch !
Thank you for posting this great footage cf !

Yes, to go wire to wire in the Derby is very difficult indeed.

Yes, I've posted his maiden win as well; he looked terrific.
I have seen his 2008 debut; War Pass is rounding into great form. He does remind me a lot of Slew; I can only hope he belies his pedigree and goes the distance.
Here's to an exciting Triple Crown trail and series!
Take care.

This was his second lifetime start. He broke his maiden at Saratoga a couple of weeks before this very impressively from post #4. The inside post was the reason I bet him back.
I'll stress again, did you see his Gulfstream 2008 debut? He has grown and matured immensely! He reminds me of Slew - but Cherokee Run was only a "one-miler."
The first week of May will be very exciting!
Cheers!

Makes sense. I didn't know those details, thanks for the info and for your viewership.
You certainly picked the right horse! I'm hoping he gets the classic distances and it's a battle with Pyro to the wire. We need another great rivalry, don't you agree?
Take care.

If you notice he never changed leads until the sisteenth pole, and that's why he bore out and looked green.
Have you seen his 2008 debut? He has grown and matured beautifully. BUT can he get 1-1/4 miles? Big question!
Cheers!

Actually bandages are used mostly for the prevention of "running down." As the leg lands, the ankle flexes sharply into the dirt, which can cuase irritation to the point of bleeding.
By the way, thanks for this video. I remember betting War Pass in this race and didn't realize it was the same horse who's now the Derby favorite.

The sponge-like thing on War Pass' nose is called a shadow roll, it helps prevent him from being distracted from any shadows in his line of sight.
Leg wraps, also called bandages, help support and protect a horse's joints and tendons from injury, or to help prevent further injury during a race. They are also used very often in workouts and for/during transport to a scheduled race.
Thanks for the good questions.
Disapointing that he lost this past week...

I agree. It's only one race though. I'm hopeful War Pass will bounce back, but I'm still very concerned that he might not like the longer distances. We'll see.
Take care.
