Katie Holmes talks about her new movie 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark', what drew her to the film, working with writer/producer Guillermo del Toro & director Troy Nixey, the personal importance of playing her character "Kim", working with co-stars Guy Pearce & Bailee Madison, filming scenes with "creatures" that aren't really there and her process for preparing to shoot a horror/thriller.

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark hits theaters on August 26th, 2011.

Sally Hurst (Bailee Madison), a lonely, withdrawn child, has just arrived in Rhode Island to live with her father Alex (Guy Pearce) and his new girlfriend Kim (Katie Holmes) at the 19th-century mansion they are restoring. While exploring the sprawling estate, the young girl discovers a hidden basement, undisturbed since the strange disappearance of the mansion's builder a century ago. When Sally unwittingly lets loose a race of ancient, dark-dwelling creatures who conspire to drag her down into the mysterious house's bottomless depths, she must convince Alex and Kim that it's not a fantasy-before the evil lurking in the dark consumes them all.

LOL, how can some gremlins bring so much trouble!?!? why dont they just grab them and squish them like bugs, cuz they are the size of a chihuahua from what ive seen in the trailer.

@randomgraduate Well based on the actual movie (I own it) there are close to 1000 of these things in total. And then they are attacking, they usually stab, slice or slash at your legs first, that way you are not as tall to them. From there they proceed to brutally killing you. But either way, if you were in what they might think a "haunted house" and there are little creatures that attack in the hundreds, trying to kill you, squashing them wouldn't come to mind. Running would.

@bOembastiCc did you really just say that it was fake...every damn movie is fake.. and it was clearly explained in the library scene...they take a life to replenish their ranks..meaning they turn whoever they kill into one of them so the biggest one that talked and never whispered was blackwood..now kim is one of them too not very hard to GET

I actually liked the movie, it's just that the end made me mad___- I didn't want it to end like that!! But I thought the movie was good anyway. Just my opinion

i watched it yesterday. and i got to say. i was dissapointed... it's fake. you can see it.

i was scared a few times... but that's it...

and the ending is really wrierd... i didn't get te end...

This is so superficial... Trust me, it's a bad movie. REALLY bad!

The dialogues are bad and very shallow. The plot is full of cliches.
