Yet another episode in our ongoing experiment to verify the hypothesis that doubling the playback speed and adding Yakety Sax to any clip, no matter how horrific, can make it funny. Today we present the nuclear attack sequence from Threads - the grimmer, darker counterpoint to ABC's The Day After. Can Benny Hill's anthem spare the 80's children from the horrors they remember?

I'd like to say that this concept was my wholly original idea but no...I just thought of it after seeing some other folks' videos where they'd done the same thing with The Passion of the Christ and 9/11 videos.

It seemed funny... also, doing this allows me to take the piss out of a film that scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. :D

Is it disturbing that I only paused my grinning and chuckling when I saw the kitty getting consumed by flames ? I don't know why that looked more unnerving than the rest, even with damned Yakety Sax, which made the rest look at least a bit silly ! :-(
