Actually you're right concerning Italy and other continental languages.
But this is not the way Germans pronounce it. We pronounce it the way the french pronounce it. Only very few musicians, like Raabe, or Ramstein still use this pronounciation. Raabe's "r" when he sings sounds odd for us Germans too ;)

@Haarez1 Not really. He's playing a role and actually uses a kind of artificial stage pronounciation as it was popular in the first half of the last century. It can be heard in old German movies, records of stage production and actor's declamations. But also in old French and even English songs you can hear distictly rolled "r"s, different from the common pronounciation.
