***The mahogany and black 70's body have both been sold in Jan 2011.***

The question was asked regarding how a neck fits in the mahogany body. Hopefully this isn't too "Blair Witch" style filming and you can get an idea of how your neck with fit in the mahogany strat.

Two corrections...
@0:22 the fingerboard on the USA made Fender neck isn't abalone as I rambled thru...but rather has abalone inlays.

@ 2:43 I mention the 70's body and 70'd Allparts neck are "glued in"...not sure was I was thinking...I meant both are finished/painted.

Necks used:
-Mighty Might Maple/Maple C shaped Strat neck - unfinished
-Mighty Might Rosewood/Maple V shaped Strat neck (shaped to Tele headstock) - unfinished (and recently sanded)
-Fender MIM Rosewood/Maple Strat neck - satin finish
-Fender USA Maple/Maple Strat neck - gloss finish
-Allparts 70's style Strat neck - gloss finish

  • Now can you just slap one of those in there, or does it take some truss work to make it playable?

  • @JacktheFisherman Most necks are built the same - 1/4" fingerboard, 1" overall height. But there may be variances by a thousandth of a inch. In that video the mighty might necks were all 9.5" radius & the maple Allparts was a 7.25 radius. The truss rod would account for the thousandth of a inch differences, but you would have to adjust saddles for intonation and string height. But in layman's terms, yes, you just slap them on there. I have 4 MM necks that I can swap in & out.

  • I have been looking on ebay for a 70´s strat neck, a reissue perhaps, and they are about 329 bucks at least and that includes "F" tuners as well, do u know any place that are cheaper.. ?

  • @HearGear I always find deals on ebay.

Search for Item number: 280709145079. Its a full Fender made 70's neck with tuners.

  • @dividedbyjames Ahhhhh alright, thanks for the info man.

  • @dividedbyjames; Thats Awesome.. but i live in europe and they dont ship international.. ::( that would be a great neck for my project, thats for sure..

  • @richogem Check ebay. They're selling for $90+s/h.

  • @dividedbyjames im looking to buy a mighty might neck for about 70-90$ with a CBS / tele headstock...

  • @richogem sorry, i got them all planned out for use on my builds. But I watch auctions on ebay all the time, and I recommend getting them there. Sometimes I can score a Mighty Might around $70...otherwise I buy them new from a dealer for $90. The allparts and Fender necks will run over $150 sometimes, but if you're lucky you can get them for about $125.

  • would you sell me one of your necks? preferably the tele headstock one? or the mexican one? or the other mighty might one?
