Body Dysmorphic Disorder

I made this video because recently this year I was diagnosed with BDD. I want to make people more aware of it and also show people who have the disorder that they are not alone. I'd appreciate it if you didn't copy my video exactly, as somebody else has already done, as this is my own personal interpretation of the illness. Thanks.x

Thank you so much for making this vid. I've suffered with BDD for 8 years now...I was only diagnosed two years ago and am horrified to see others going through the same hell as me. I've had BDD for a while now but I was only diagnosed last year and I'm trying to "defeat" it, I guess you could say, but it's so hard.. I have two closets with four massive mirrors and a scale in my room and I can't be torn away from them unless I look my best..

Exactly the difference! Sometimes unfortunately, plastic surgery might just be the cure for B.D.D.

Do I have BDD? Nope, I just think I'm not as attractive as I'd like to be. Not drop dead ugly but not how I want to look either.

I posted a picture of myself on a forum. I got a reply saying I looked like Conan O Brien (comedian). I googled his name, and he was actually voted in the top 10 ugliest comedians. A person that doesn't know me at all compared me to him.

Moral of story - I dont have Bdd. Im just ugly. For me, it is not a distorted view.

Anyone who can argue that?

This was so very nice of you to post this, for i do not know how to thank you more than just leaving a comment. You changed the way I thought of the disorder, and I can now say that i have BDD myself. Now i understand that i am not alone, and i just thought the appearence that only I saw in the mirror was realistic, but know i know it is not and when i typed BDD in the computer I did not think it would come up, even though I was diagnosed with it. In the vid u explained what i felt. thanks<3!
