  • No matter what discipline you ride your horse can be injured. I started jumping and saw plenty of injuries. I then did gymkhana and at the last show of the season my horse slipped running to the first barrel and fractured her pastern. She healed but was only able to trail ride after that. Now I do jumping and reining and if you train right you won't see injuries in reining but it also depends on how well you prevent injuries. I get my horses joints injected every 6 months or so to prevent injury

  • i love reining but i ride english :)

  • Jeah, reininh ♥ Western Riding is the best!

  • @fancysparkles Any decent person who owns/trains reining horses is NOT doing this on their horse daily once they have the maneuvers down. Even when they are training at my barn they take special care to not "over do it". Most "issue" come from breeding and conformation. If your horse isn't build to drive it's going to have in increase chance of stress related issus. If your horse is long in the pastern their jumping career may not last long. I see jumping as WAY worse on the joints.

  • @fancysparkles Never hurt mine, not one bit she was loveing it and we did all Gymkhanna events, if she ever sliped or injured her self I would have put the breaks on and pulled out for good!!

  • @BarrelBrooke No offence taken--all equestrian sports have the potential for injury, minor and major :)

  • @rhondasmy08 I barrel race. i have never seen a major injury. im not trying to be mean or start anything i am just saying english can hurt them too (:

  • @fancysparkles You've summed it up in the words "ridden & trained correctly".

Eventing was my thing, and then latterly just dressage,so you're preaching to the converted about the dangers of injury :)
