Nuclear is far less CO2 emitting and its domestic. Far fewer people have died from Nuclear production than coal mining and oil drilling. Even with the incident in Japan. No one died in Japan. Nuclear is safe and waste in new plants is much lower than the older generations. Smaller Thorium plants are extremely safe. We can eliminate the need for fossil fuels with nuclear, wind, geothermal and solar development and improve our power grid in the process.

We'll see. I doubt he will fix anything. Just another status quo candidate.

Government doesn't want to admit their is climate changes coming and now because it too political. Nuclear is governmental pushing as well as polutents they are guilty of themselves, after all this means money. The gov. will never go toward solar energies, they are too invested in wall street. The solar energies will come from foreign counties. And buy from those country's not US. We've become too corrupted. The good new, I think, is solar energy is coming and our gov can't stop it.

I'm not a proponent of coal; there's no such thing as "clean coal" - the loss of life connected to the use of coal is significant. The damage to the planet from global warming is and will be disasterous. "Experts" have downplayed TMI and Chernobyl.

When nuclear plants shut down, infant mortality in the surrounding area declines. We don't need nukes or coal. We get plenty of energy from the sun and wind with no toxicity, no radioactive waste, no frightening legacy to the generations after us.

Er. I apologize for being ambiguous. I've seen the movie Chernobyl Heart and know that the condition exists, as do other conditions due to nuclear disaster. The death toll isn't covered up, though. There have been deaths due to nuclear disaster, but nuclear disaster is becoming more and more unlikely as technology becomes more advanced in the field. LongTimeAtheist is correct in his post, when he says less have died from nuclear than from coal. Coal is a carcinogen, even without disaster.

CHERNOBYL HEART and CHILDREN OF CHERNOBYL - that's the title of a youtube video. Try looking up Chernobyl heart, and you'll see plenty right here, with all the sources and citations you can handle.

You don't need me to provide you with sources and citations. If you make the slightest effort to acquaint yourself with the aftermath of Chernobyl, you'll see it is no "conspiracy theory" - it's anguishing fact.

I bet you can't provide evidence for that. Just conspiracy-theory spreading sources without citations to back up their data.

There are nuclear technologies that will never cause a Chernobyl type melt down. Thorium is one such method. We use radioactive materials safely all the time in medicine and other fields

I do not like the current nuclear power plant design They are a hold over from the atom bomb and creation of weapons grade material

The death rate of coal production is 4000 times more than that of nuclear and oil is 1000 times. I don't want to diminish Chernobyl we need to learn from it

    Safety should come first
