Russian infantry tactics of WW2 were a lot more complicated than what you think. Where possible, infantry commanders actively tried to avoid the suicide rush against German guns because they knew the futility of the exercise. However, the NKVD, being the nutjobs they were, thought otherwise.

Wow, I really hope you NEVER get into a position of authority. TBH, you can't pass any form of judgement on these men unless you've done it yourself. If you were put into a position of a choice between blindly rushing an MG nest or to flank it and engage the gunner from sufficient cover, I know which option I would pick.
I also love the fact you consider medical personell cowards, when 99% of them go into major combat zones & out into hostile fire unarmed...

Nah actually nothing too special. Red Army COs main task was to shoot their soldiers pretty much 24/7. At least 500,000 RKKA soldiers were shot by their own men during WWII. Definitely an army worth fighting in and for ...
