For many people with tetraplegia, regaining even modest amounts of hand and grasping function can make a world of difference. Dr. Arthur Prochazka, professor at the University of Alberta's Centre for Neuroscience and Department of Physiology, has been working for more than 15 years to develop new methods for people with paralysis to regain hand function. After intensive testing and subsequent validation, his innovative ReJoyce workstation is poised to become a fixture in rehabilitation centres around the world—and perhaps even in some people's homes.

The Rick Hansen Institute has provided funding and assistance for people with spinal cord injury to travel from across Canada to take part in the ReJoyce study.
