I agree not flares...but what flies at night around Pheonix and lots of other places...like Yuma or all of the UK? Military fighter formations of 4 aircraft, 4 is a standard tactical formation. See any Blue Angels or Thunderbirds airshow...at a long distance ...at night... The fact that they appear to be red? What time is it at filming? What color was the sunset? Why? High altitude aircraft will reflect the sunset in CA you can't see.
Afterburners don't fit cause we wouldn't leave em on that l
