@WilmaBridget I beg to differ. You know what's terrible? When you're watching it on your own and you feel like you're the only one laughing, and the sudden awkward feeling that creeps in. I have watched sitcoms that did not have laugh tracks, and they were still funny, but gave an awkward aftertaste.
Crowd laughter can make things seem funnier and facilitate enjoyment. I find it arrogant when people use reasons against it like "you're too dumb to get the joke so you need a laugh track".
