"SONG THE WORLD WROTE" is a music project by Johnny De Lima, a performer in Vancouver and his mother, Lucy De Lima-Wilson, a Social Worker in Toronto. Johnny came up with the idea of a song that would be written by people from all over the world...line by line, week by week, and would be founded upon diversity, peace, collaboration, and love.
A website was created at www.songtheworldwrote.com , where submitted lyric lines were voted on each week by viewers from across the globe. The end result was was an incredible and motivational song which we feel would make a great Olympic Theme Song.
Multiple Emmy award winning songwriter, AJ Gundell, wrote the title and opening line and the rest of the world took it from there. The song is titled Oceans of Love The Song the World Wrote and is intended to produce a substantial donation to the BC Cancer Foundation from a portion of the net proceeds after it is picked up by a major recording artist and released.
We allowed for the winning line writers to retain the writer's share of the publishing while relinquishing their publishing portion in the hopes of getting a major artist to re-record the original, as well as having substantial publishing proceeds go directly to the BC Cancer Foundation.
Over the course of 26 weeks, our song garnered great interest world wide and we had several thousand unique visitors to the site. With the help of some great supporters and prominent music biz people, we were finally able to complete this wonderful project.
Essentially, this is the song to which the world knew the words, before it was even completed and arranged...
We feel this song fits with the Olympics for a couple of important reasons. Mainly, because it was written by and represents several countries, including India, USA, Canada, Argentina, Lebanon, China, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Germany, and France.as do the Olympics.
Additionally, the donation it will make towards cancer research will benefit not only those in Vancouver, home of the Olympics, but people from all over the world whose lives have been affected by this escalating disease.
We would also like to fondly remember Alexander Burke, (also known as Lord Sardonic) one of our writers who passed away last year at the tender age of 19. Thanks for believing in us, Alex!
We would be most appreciative if you would take a moment to visit our site:
