I had lived in Houston about 4 years when this happened.... Over 1 million live viewers jammed into every park and vacant lot west of downtown. The freeways just went into gridlock and nobody went nowhere. Everyone had radios (either boom boxes or car radios) all set to the station that was broadcasting the concert. The result was watching the skyline come to life and the music was coming from EVERYWHERE. Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime event. I still have the VHS tape made by MTV
