meat eaters also can have B12 Deficiency, its not the fact that you eat foods with b12, its the fact that fact that your body is not able to produce/absord it, there are 3 parts in the body with produce b12 including the intestines and the liver, a lot of b12 is in bile of the stomach.
some people just have an a disposition to such things.
I have a mixed diet, including veg meat and deary products,
i have an egg every morning when getting up
and im getting tested for b12.
While anyone CAN have a B12 deficiency, and nearly 40% of meat-eaters have a B12 deficiency, studies also show that 50% of vegetarians and an astounding 80% of vegans have a B12 deficiency. (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition)
As such, the chances of a vegan being B12 deficient are 80%. This is why if going vegan you should supplement B12 and also watch other levels like iron, zinc, etc.
And it's not just my opinion- Barnard, Esselstyn, McDougall and every other vegan MD agree.
