when he does a swing from waki-no-kamai stance he does not step his right leg back and the swing is too high, he should be swinging to cut the lower stomach of his opponent, and he does not slice properly, he isnt ending each slice with the sword tip facing the opponent, even if he is practicing in the air he needs to pretend he has an opponent in front of him.

hey.. its just a work out.. not a friggin' test...." balance and visualization... no one is perfect, one must learn from one another lest be judgemental, and keep an open mind..." a quote from my sensei velaquez @ Atemi -Ryu in florida.

These are exercises...he is over exaggerating the motions with a heavier object than the katana. Those twist are continuous..cause all he would need is one to parry an oncoming cut and then slash or stab. You guys, and what ever my Sensie doesn't approve isn't gospel or historically correct kill me. I bet if you drew your sword against this guy in the vid you would surely meet your end. When the heat is on you better hope you can remember a Kata you been taught.

@madapina i said that because that's the easiest way to judge for people that knows nothing of sword. this has nothing to do with open mind or not. his sword angle is off, and angle is very important, he is also twisting his sword, this makes it impossible to cut. he hits, this can go through a tatami with a good sword, but not through human, as it would hit bone an get stuck. his stopping technique is unballanced and non existing at best. he has said himself this is not budo but for showmanship

@Devoti that is fast cutting! it is perfect way to handle the sword! there is so much different ways to train with sword! dont be blind and open your mind

very very good training for the bokken.
practice each movement and increases each time. You will see a differance after 1 month, that's what happen to me, I start the bokken 2 month ago.

alot is wrong with it, but i won't try being mr. internett-sensei, so i'll just say try looking for vids with smoother techniques, it must look more like cutting and not hard hitting. and usually if they're very fast, it is no good.

What's wrong with it?

no good, don't follow this technique.
This dude would be awesome at baseball.

thats training, and the long swing is to generate power and weight on the boken, for strengthening of the arms, back and side muscles.
p.s the boken is usually heavier than a katana.
