@cazzzzz The first film would be "exting the factory" it isnt actually a film it is about 2mins long and shows a crowd exiting a factory. We learnt it in film studies last week

@holycow818181 holy cow is correct. This isn't the first film, however it is the first "hollywood style" film.

I believe it was the piece of film of a train coming into station. When viewers first saw it they ran in terror thinking they were going to be run over by the train. Just like viewers thought they were being shot by the bandit at the end of this film

to address Revenge1986: it wasnt the first film ever. even a trip to the moon was a year before this. i have no idea what the first film in 'recorded' history is. but it might be worth researching... im curious myself now...

It was the first something, although it wasn't the first "film". I think it was the first "feature length" movie, although film was expensive, so the movie was still quite short.
