Time for a charting hit! I love this record a lot... my copy of the 45 plays off center, i suspect many others do as well which may ultimately have hurt it's chart action. Audio for this video provided off of the ACE cd The Golden Age Of American Popular Music as it is on that cd from a nice mono master tape. Group member Carl Edmondson was also a solo performer for Fraternity and also a producer for them, producing such artists as Lonnie Mack and The 2 Of Clubs, which included his now ex-wife Linda Parrish. I have no idea who the other members of the group were, but they did have a number of releases, none charting as well as this record. You can hear great tunes like this one live every night on www.topshelfoldies.com!

  • The Other members were Paul Singleton and Marv Lockard

(I got this information from Carl himself... I am his son)

  • Very cool!

  • Memories from late 1964; they sort of sound like the Everly Bros. ( I have this record too, but my copy has a little warp.) The b-side, I Don't Want to Go On Without You is good too; first done by the Drifters.

  • My copy of the 45 is pressed off center! Have to manually re-center it without the center adapter to get it to play normally!

  • Ah, what memories...Couldn't even remember the name of it, it's been so long. Good thing we have Google. Thanks ever so much for posting.

  • my mom worked with jim dandy who later worked for fraternity he used to come over and play and evaluate records at our house. musta listened to this one 500 times.

  • Years ago, Carl gave me 10 to 20 ree-to-reel tapes of his sessions, for some reason, and I still have them. They haven't been played for years, and I am not sure if they still play. I met Carl when he played at a Kentucky club called Guys N' Dolls, owned by Ben Craft. I'd go there mainly to listen to his music, though picking up chicks was kinda fun too :) Carl, was and is still a real talent, and I hear his sons, Daniel and Josh are also. Time sure does fly! Anyway, it was cool to find this.

  • Man, I didn't even know that this was on Youtube. It's been years! Me and my ex-wife were good friends with Carl and his ex-wife for years when I lived in Cincinnati. I also had two kids about the same age as his, and we would get together and go places on weekends. It was a lot of fun. I have remarried, and at 70 years old have a new 5 year old son, and a 2 year old daughter, but have lived in San Diego for the past 26 years, and listening to this is good reminiscing.

  • the other member of the 2 of clubs is Patti Valentine. she was pretty well known in northern KY during this time.

    great singer and good friend

  • This song was played recently one Sunday afternoon over WDJO in Cincinnati, Ohio. Fell in love with it from the first note.

  • I have This 45, mine plays great, I remember lying in bed listening to the radio waiting for THIS to be played. I was 12 then, I'm 60 now and I still LOVE this song. Thanks.

  • Perhaps my fave "nerdy white boy in love" song from the 60's--Sad that Carl does not like to do it live--- this is a real gem!

  • @pgh45rpms well just like rare coins etc etc that must be worth a lot more than the usual 45 rpm ..correct !! ??
