the union demands over the generations incrementally made doing business in the U.S. less profitable. Especially the legacy liability (retirement). Retirement began when the worker spent 25 to 30 years on the job. So if a worker started at 18 years old he could retire at 48. Thats not old. Most of these retirees went out and got another job like home depot. On top of that they live longer so the number of retirees end up greater than the actual workers. Thats what happened to GM.

@hammocktime2002 Unions? It was far more than the unions that brought an end to the industry of America. How about all those patriotic Americans waving their Chinese made American flags on Sept. 11th that bought foriegn junk. How about corporate greed, how about government regulations, and other bad Federal domestic and foreign policy? Have unions caused all the jobs to leave this country since 1990?
