'Ano 'ai ke aloha! Ia ora na!
Welcome to Na Hula 'O Moku'aina a me Motu'aina.
This video lets you experience traditional and modern Polynesian culture through the dances, songs, drums, costumes, and spirit of aloha that is Motu'aina! These shots are excerpts from our highly praised "Honu: Long Ago in the Pacific" performance in 2008.
We are a Halau, a traditional Polynesian dance school, under the direction of Catherine U'ilani Blankenship, the great-granddaughter of Hawai'ian composer, Henry Kailimai. The Halau places equal emphasis on excellence in Hawai'ian hula and Tahitian ori.
Located along the 680/580 corridors in the San Francisco East Bay, we strive to be a highly reliable Polynesian resource for our East Bay communities. Our mission is to produce enlightening, entertaining and professional shows while providing our students with an enriching experience.
We invite anyone from age 2 thru 90 to join us!
•Appreciate Hawai'ian and Tahitian performance.
•Learn to dance, chant, maybe even drum.
•Help perpetuate ancient Polynesian cultures.
•Discover how Polynesian values can positively impact your everyday life.
•Enjoy fun, challenging and vigorous activities.

'A'a i ka hula, waiho ka hilahila i ka hale! When one wants to dance the hula, bashfulness should be left at home!
The word "hula" describes a wide range of dances from the Hawai'ian Islands. Na Hula 'O Moku'aina endeavors to develop performers who have an appreciation for and proficiency in the kahiko or ancient hula, as well as 'auana or modern hula.
