Please bear with me, this video is a bit slow in the beginning but it picks up speed later on. Also, the French names gets me stuck at times...

So, I tried Kris Madden's speed reading exercise of trying to read upside down. It was not very easy, but at the same time I really did feel like it made my brain work overtime to try to process the information. When I flipped the book over to read conventionally, I felt as though I could read much faster.

Try it and see how you do!

  • you've got a great audience of subs John- they'll even watch a video of you reading a book upside down :)

  • @CampfireTalk thanks CFT! :)

  • The thing about speed reading that I don't grasp is the comprehension. Of course, you'll probably read faster, but will you remember everything you have read? I've been studying this speed reading thing for months now on various sources of information, and what I've learned so far is that reading a story or novel would be more quicker than reading a information or how-to book. For me at least. Now, I focus more on comprehension than the speed of the text. Though, I have picked up alot of speed.

  • Thanks for sharing, what other systems have you tried and are they working for you? I'm always curious to learn about new stuff. I asked my friend how he learned to speed read, and he just said, practice, practice, practice. Or in his case, read, read, and read some more. I do think the more you read, the faster you will be able to read in the future. But like you, I want to figure out the comprehension part!

  • Very interesting John!

  • Thanks Doc!

  • hahaha glad you are practicing. Pretty soon you can progress to big people books :)

  • LOL now that was funny.

  • I read the kids their bedtime stories this way. Pretty interesting. Took my brain a few lines to figure it out, then it was smooth enough for the kiddo's to follow the story.

  • WOW...I'm also surprised how fast I can read upside down. I am going to practice this for awhile and see how it goes.
