My summer job, working on a farm and making Hay in Conway, Massachusetts: Mowing, Tedding, Raking, and Baling.

Doug just got the John Deere 6320 Tractor this spring (2008), replacing the German-Made 1140 as the main workhorse (the 1140 is the one tedding / raking)

This video was shot on July 1, 2008 (mowing) and July 3, 2008 (everything else.) We just barely made it in the barn before it started pouring rain.

  • I make hay in Athol MA and Barre Ma both are about 30 miles east of you

  • Ah Yes. Ronnie and Willie. Sweet video's though. Gotta love the Green iron.

  • Haha, ok, fair enough...didn't quite get the depth from your first post, sorry. But we don't have too much problem with leaf loss, mainly because the fields we hay aren't strictly planted...just a mix of a bunch of grasses. I mean sure, some of the volume gets knocked away every time you handle it, but with stuff like this there's a lot more where it came from :P

  • no i mean with the raking with the parallel bar rake can beat all the leaves off the plants as well as the tedder beating the hell out of the hay

  • Yeah, they're just all dried out, if that's what you mean...
