Deleuze working out his material for Mille Plateaux in the infamously crowded and smoky, cloudy classrooms of PARIS 8, VINCENNES (now in SAINT DENIS) where LYOTARD, CHATELET, GUATTARI, SCHERER, and more recently BADIEU, RANCIERE, BROSSAT and others have fleshed out their weltanschungs. PARIS 8 (VINCENNES) was a hotbed for revolutionary thought in its early years and was thus quickly moved from its "forest" location under the pretext that a "dolphin park" would be built on the same terrain...

  • @videoSTORK please upload the rest of the video if you have it and thanks for posting these fragment. And just out of interest where did you get the video from?

  • The 2nd question is: What do these two diagrams refer to? Deleuze's answer is: to whatever you want because each diagram represents a "mutliplicty" even if there are instances of unification these are still within a multiplicity. At the very end he notes: in effect, I cannot determine one characteristic that would be more important than the others, they are all on the same plain.

  • The 1st question is this: If we suppose that these diagrams concern 2 regimes of semiotics: on the one hand a semiotics of signifiance ("signifying capacity" cf Benveniste ctd. in Massumi) and on the other a semiotics of subjectivation (formation of subject, pre-subject, the "passionnel", cf Althusser on "interpellation") can we operate a junction (abstract) between them?

  • Fantastic to see Deleuze in action in the classroom. What he's describing here are the fundamentals of the rhizome. See the introduction to A Thousand Plateaus, it's all there and in much greater detail. After finishing the two diagrams he remarks that he will raise 3 questions, sadly the video cuts short of the 3rd.

  • Ces deux vidéos serait plus agréable sans certains de bruit de fond et des légendes inséré à la place

  • only caucasian men studying only caucasian men

  • .le premier schéma lg l'avait pensé à toulouse au bord du fleuve puis dessiné d'abord dans un tableau du genre excel - super-cadrant donc ; ensuite les cercles et leur rayonnement obligèrent l'effacement de certaines lignes h/v
