England London riots: David Starkey is a racist ? whites turn Black (share this around like MAD!)

Historian David Starkey has told BBC's Newsnight ''the whites have become black'' in a discussion on the England riots with author and broadcaster Dreda Say Mitchell and the author of Chavs, Owen Jones.

He also hit out at what he called the ''destructive, nihilistic gangster culture'' which he said ''has become the fashion.''

It's difficult to argue that 'gang culture' is not 'a black thing' IMO. The influences that draw people into the gangbanger lifestyle are predominantly black-influenced. Like Starkey points out, music being a huge contributory factor. 95% of Grime artists are black yuts.

It's a shame so many young black guys are drawn into it, but the fact it they are, on a hugely disproportionate level to white kids.

Starkey is right. This destructive retarded gangland "gangsta" SUB culture is predominantly Black. I am Black and I don't like nasty gay white men who think they're superior to Blacks anymore than I like having to agree with Starkey but HE IS right and the problem is the homes they come out of. @pgI0897 The points about Rock and other forms of entertainment were fallacies. There is no link between having one hobby, and that hobby encouraging your actions. Seriously, what music do paedophiles and rapists listen to?

Yes, some youths who are in youth gangs listen to gangsta rap. But you are marginalising rap music, and youth gangs which don't have people who listen to rap. The majority of violent people have violent upbringings, the majority of gang members are from low income families.

The points about rock n roll and computer games hold some weight, but in both cases the two things are nowhere near as enmeshed with each other as rap/hip-hop are with gangbangin. To argue otherwise is completely naive imo.

@pgI0897 Seriously - kids listen to Rock music about sex, drugs, and rock and roll. They adopt a drug using, sexually active lifestyle, form bands and release music about the same topics, perpetuating the cycle destroying the youth minds which would have never had an immoral though had it not been for Rock music.

Violent movies and video games are responsible for people becoming violent criminals, and in turn, biographical movies are made about the violent criminals, perpetuating the cycle.

Hip-Hop, Rap, Grime all have a significant proportion of artists whose records glamourise gang culture. Yuts listen, take on the get money anyway anyhow attitude which is a contributory factor to them falling into gang lifestyles, and then want to write their own music that perpetuates the cycle.
