A tiger escaped from its pen at the San Franscisco Zoo on Christmas Day, 2007. The tiger killed one person and injured two others before being shot to death by police.

Dave Salmoni of Animal Planet, a "large predator expert," feels sorry for the zoo keepers who "lost basically a family member," and says that "obviously, the biggest victim... is the tiger who got killed."

Co-host Juliet interrupted with mild sarcasm toward Salmoni , "The person that got killed was a pretty big victim, too."

Up until she said that, Salmoni didn't even acknowledge that a person was killed, and had only mentioned the people who had been mauled in passing between his points about the suffering zoo keepers and the tiger being the "biggest victim." He cares more about the dead tiger and its zoo-keeper "family" than about the young man who was killed or his actual family. What a jerk!

These clips are from Fox's "The Morning Show With Mike and Juliet," January 3, 2008.

  • You speak the truth. I would glady save a tiger over humans. Humans are the scum of the earth.

  • I can't believe he is getting blamed for this by anyone. I mean, he clearly states that getting mauled by a tiger is a terrible thing, and I doubt he doesn't know how much it can hurt to loose someone, but.. the attack sounds provoked.

That being said, his love for the big cats is legendary, and he does value the tigers and lions life above all - as clearly shown by the fact that he refuses guns as a solution to an attack on himself. And I for one admire that about him!

  • humans suck! tiger's are 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times more important than any measly little smart ass teenage punk. those fucking dirty police monkeys how dare they do this to a poor helpless tiger!

  • shut the fuck up!! all you fucken people are fucken stupid bitches!!! who gives a fuck about the fucken tigger!!! it was never supposed to get out no matter what the problem was. a human life is worth a billion times more then a animal. all you people that think diffrent are worthless pice of shitss!! and if it was up to me all you should die for thinking the tigger is a more lost than a human!!!

  • I think the loss of both lives is a horrible thing, and although I don't agree that the guy "deserved it" I do agree that at least he had the chance to make a choice...a really stupid choice...but still a choice. The tiger didn't choose to be stuck in an enclose for our entertainment, he didn't choose to go after some guy for no reason, and he didn't choose the instincts that make him a tiger. These animals were never intended to be entertainment for us, they are wild animals!!

  • so basicly the motha fucker went up and slapped the tiger across the face and the tiger said o hell no motha fucker im a kill your ass you do that again. So the mother fucka slapped the tiger cross the face again. Thats when tiger said O HELL NO and killed dat bitch. Than on his way to the manager there where some disagreements between the tiger and the police so police shot the tiger down. All cause of some stupid ass motha fucker

  • @PiePieUtopia Even though they pissed on the tiger, the enclouser must be Escape-Proof, zoos should be a safe place for animals an people.

Sorry for the tiger and the kids

  • watch his lil movie, living with tigers, its amazing

  • @Serb1anArchangel I Heavily Agree

  • @Serb1anArchangel

We don't even have a relative idea of how "courageous" each animal is compared to others. Do tigers risk their lives more often than cockroaches?

Btw, you still haven't responded to those other examples, such as lions, whales, eagles, etc. A little tongue-tied?

  • @SkrPchr3 True is relative. Get it?

  • @Serb1anArchangel

If you search "noble lion," you get even MORE results. So you just discredited yourself right there.

We hate cockroaches, it's ugly and dirty...so we might as well call it a coward as well (even though we have absolutely NO IDEA about that).

Tigers, on the other hand, are magnificent, powerful, fast, so we might as well give it some other nice traits, like courage (even though again, we have NO IDEA if that's true). Get it now?
