The makeup was gray, but it appeared blue and green on film, just like how the blood they used looked bright and flourescent. The makeup they used was regular halloween makeup, not studio makeup, because they only had a budget of 500,000 dollars. So, the makeup was never really meant to show up on film, and it looked different as a result. :D
