I'd really like to visit your clinic some day even if it is out of state. Not sure when I could but anyways your story struck a chord with me because I've often for years now go from a sedentary lifestyle phase for months to out of the blue going hard on my body to exercise or playing games for hours at a time. My out of shape body developed many TP's as I have found probably 15+ in my arms and upperback/lower back, scalenes, even hips and legs. Bootcamp in the Airforce produced a few I think.

I'm sure it will be one of those "sports" that is added to the Olympic Games...like chess, though StarCraft is at least physically taxing to the upper extremities! :>)

PART-II
I worked on this man in the clinic for several weeks performing Trigger / Motor Point therapy and Transverse Fiber/Friction massage and although it helped quite a bit, the disorder would always be a chronic condition unless the weak, damaged extensor groups was strengthened with pure finger/wrist extension with no gripping and it was Flextend that completed his therapy and kept the condition from becoming chronic, while continued use prevented the injury from returning.

PART-I
You are correct, it is often situations where you go from zero to moderate activity and then go for broke by performing the specific activity for too many hours each day, especially if those days increase in number. I remember a man that had to type a huge report and spent 3-days straight typing and developed severe Tennis Elbow. Although he typed every day, his body was not physically prepared to handle the muscle overload it was subjected to. Like him, I'm sure you have many TP's!

I first noticed my symptoms of hand numbness and arm/elbow pain after playing 2 weeks of Starcraft 2 8+ hours a day and exercising hard on my out of shape body at the time. Had played the original Starcraft for almost 10 years too and other games, so just a warning to everyone else out there be careful on your hands. Starcraft is very very popular in South Korea yes, it's a highly recognized and celebrated 'sport'.

Oh funny you mention this, I have played Starcraft competitively and for fun for YEARSSSSS since 98' and many other games. Then Starcraft 2 came out and well, sadly to say I played a couple weeks with many hours a day and then suddenly all my hand symptoms developed for the first time. Probably a big reason why I have so many trigger points in my triceps/biceps, elbows, forearms and probably hands.

Thanks for the great feedback, it is much appreciated! You are one of several StarCraft gamers I've been in contact with and that use Flextend. That is one crazy game - I cannot believe how fast and precise the hands/fingers have to be in order to play it well. Do you enter competitions? I believe that StarCraft is a national and televised sport in South Korea.

RSI and CTS is a big hazard for professional gamers. I play Starcraft, a competitive RTS game which requires thousands of small, precise movements with a mouse every time I practice. If it wasn't for these exercises I'd probably have busted wrists by now.

No, mostly online medical stores I believe. They sell direct to hospitals and clinics but if you go to your local medical dealer they will order it for you.
