@nellheuer i'm sorry!i didnt take it like this! i considered the part "be part of the world around you, seing the world from the bright side" like a compliment,like their /your world is perfect, obviously i know it is not

and everyone has worries,but i wouldn get offended if someone said that italy is a perfect world or something like this! i'd only say its not as it seems! and by the way i think the oc shows everything but a perfect world! but i respect your point of view and your feelings!

The Music Syd Matters makes, is usually very pensive and i guess the message of this song is, that he wants to be more superficial and stupid (like the american girls), because for people less toughtfull life is easier ("watching the world from the bright side"). Of course you cant refer to ALL american girls, i guess it´s about the ideal girl ("American girls like dollies, With shiniest smiles and plastic bodies") presented in the american media. O.C is a good example for that :D

of course it´s offensive for american girls, i think that´s pretty obvious.

in fact almost the whole song is meant in an ironic way. "plastic bodies" "like dollies" refer to the superficial and fake world presented f.e. in the O.C, The Hills, but also in hollywood, the media and in the american society in general.

Syd matters wants to be around and with "them" (american girls), and wants to be part of this ideal world which apparently is without worries...

hey , a friend of mine told me that this song is kinda "offensive" for the american girls, is it true?? i really love it , and its incredible how it fits with the oc!! but is it really offensive for you american girls?? :) I love the part "to all of you american girls i'd like to be part of the world around you, driving a car by the seaside watching the world from the bright side" it really fits with how i feel :)

@marjo95160 yeah! she's cool and whatever, she should just make up her mind faster, she's (actually was) always so confused and messed up!! i hate to say that, but that's what brought her to death in the first place!! anyway i liked her too, and i missed her! poor ryan :(
