I agree about the deaf baby reference. To me it begins with the nurse who walks into the Mother's room, carrying the baby with a sad, forlorn look on her face and she says to the Mother, "I'm so sorry....".

Yes I was about to ask you that same question.

Same thing with English, if you would say Mop, and then add "e" to the end, it would look completely different. Rob, robe, cop, cope and all that. So OLois has no merit in saying that as all languages come with little nuisances. Why? I guess language isn't perfect or whatever.

Hey there - I fully agree with you about people saying that ASL can be misleading but then English can be misleading too.

I often have my students complaining that some signs are the same but with different meanings, and I often have to tell them to remember to use correct context and it won't be as misleading as it would have been. And I also show some examples from English, and they are lost for words! lol!
