Only problem today is that many electric devices cant be turned off. They only have stand-by mode so you must pull the plug to turn them completely off.
Just look at TVs or CD players for example
And think about how much energy is wasted because people cant wait an extra second or two for their TV to start up.
Only in my small room (16m2) right now I have about 6 devices on stand-by sucking about 18W an hour.. thats over 400W a day!
Think about it!

Thanks for that, you're awesome.

I leave all of my CRTs (no LCD input lag, ghosting, tearing fixed resolution nonsense for me thanks) on standby all the time. Boohoo I'm wasting energy, too bad that extra energy I'm using is going to be generated (and wasted by somebody else) regardless of whether I turn my monitors off.

Exactly. There are 6.000.000.000 people on earth, and if all people think like you, thats a LOT of fucking trees wasted!
-
Yes but how often do you leave it on standby and how often can you leave it off instead think about how many watts you're wasting now.

Thanks for this, Really important.

My Samsung 931BW Energy Star consumes 1w at standby.
But who cares?? No one?? If you save 1W of energy in 100 years you save 1 tree.
-
acourding to the specs, my LG screen consumes less than 1W when in standby

To whoever asked this question:
Your monitor will have consumed less power in a year, compared to the amount used for your computer when you asked the question.
So what is the point?

mine comsumes 0.3W in standby :)
