Design an island. Yeah!
Continuity around an episode of Pingu and the start of schools program 'Landmarks'. I would upload more of this episode but I can't due to it containing the track 'Ancient Forest' by Clannad, and WMG don't like that. Listen here http://www.last.fm/music/Clannad/_/An...
I think the date is correct but please let me know if you think different.

Ouch he's not that good here is he - rather awkward sign off. Odd also that the end on a nasty stretched still of the logo, rather than the actual ident.
Good to see reference to the period when CBBC was on at about 6pm because of all the sport - I remember thinking at the time it would be great if it was on that late all the time. Finally in 2002, the CBBC channel launched, by which time I'd rather grown out of the taget audience...

Yes he sounds rather patronising in tone here. Although I think on the whole he was more comfortable presenting pre-school links as his subsequent career shows. I have some more somewhere from the same set with CJ wearing the same clothes.
All day childrens programming was launched on BBC Choice in 1999 before the CBBC channel. Although it was mainly pre-school shows.
Also his comment after the ending program at the start does that show no justice at all!

6PM seems late for Blue Peter. Did Wimbledon occupy the schedules around this time?

One Correction ClassicUKTelevision This Children's BBC2 with Chris Jarvis into Schools TV (Tuesday 7th June 1994) Is Incorrect Because If I Remember Correctly Blue Peter and Black Beauty Came On At 6pm On Monday 6th June 1994 Because For The Rest Of That Week CBBC Was On BBC One At Its Normal Time Of 3.50pm So This Could Only Be From Monday 6th June 1994 Because Pingu and Postman Pat Came On CBBC On (Tuesday 7th June 1994) But This Was A Good Guess I Love It At 0:00 This Is An Excellent Video

Wimbledon was later in the month but the clues for BP's late transmission are in the clip. The D-Day 50th anniversary specials would have run through most of the day on BBC1 and with the cricket originally suppose to end at around 6pm on 2, Blue Peter was caught in a pinzer movement forcing it to a later timeslot than usual.

Chris Jarvis replaced Dominic Wood as the host of the children's game show Jungle Run.

This would have been the final weeks that Studio A would have been seen in this incarnation- the "Looney Base" as Chris calls it. I presume that the Adventure Island he refers to is the island set up on the roof that CBBC moved to during the summer, after they'd moved out of the broomcupboard and the builders were in the studio (I think they's started using the island set for BBC2 and morning links a short while before the broomcupboard ended on BBC1, but I'm not sure)

I think this is Monday 6th June 1994, not Tuesday 7th. Very evocative stuff, with David Allan announcing. Oh, and it was the first Test, not the final one.
