Here is a great slightly aged and slightly modded Gibson Les Paul Classic Gold Top that is really more of a Vintage looking Standard with a thin neck now...it has a Lindy Fralin PAF in the neck position and a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates at the bridge as well as CTS pots and Bumblebee caps (that's what they use in the R7, R8, and R9 reissues). I'm using a JVC GR-D850 miniDV camcorder with the built in mic and light. I plugged the guitar straight into a Fender Super Sonic tube amp and I'm using an Avatar 2x12 extension cab with 12" Hellatone speakers all around. There are no effects besides the built in reverb in the beginning of the video (while on the clean or "vintage" channel) and the built in gain/distortion (on the drive or "burn" channel). I'll be listing this guitar (as well as all the other guitars in the stands in the backround) on eBay within the week or so. Thanks for watching and feel free to comment and correspond!

  • I have the same guitar and hate the pups. Do you still like these?

  • @sngncwby I like a lot of different pickups but you never really know how it will sound until you put it in your particular guitar as no 2 guitars are exactly alike...but yes, I really like both of these pickups...

  • @lauraslook I bought this guitar just like it is and I gave it a decent showing...it is what it is and if it is not what it was once upon a time, who are you to say that it isn't better...you never heard this one to begin with (before it got modded). Maybe you are stupid enough to think that all Les Paul's sound the same (and for that matter, should be left alone and never modded)...bottom line though, if someone spends their money on something and wants to mess with it, what is that to you?

  • @Skaterboy1028 They were sort of gold-greenish...if you looked at them just right...

  • @JKryanX It's a "'60s-flavored" Standard. When the Classic was released in '93, it was actually more "period-correct" than the actual pre-historic '60 RI. It's the poor man's R0.:)

In fact, it's actual name (from Gibson) is the "Les Paul 1960 Classic Reissue".

  • @JKryanX I really can't remember exactly when the test was (it was only once) but by '92 I had already graduated to a leather Gibson jacket from a sales contest (I finished in the top 3% in the Country for electrics and somehow got top honors with the acoustics...I don't know how...I didn't sell that many Gibson acoustics...I guess no one was selling many back then). Gibson has always been inconsistent as far as quality, but if you try enough of them, you can find some really good ones.

  • @greengtrs well its not your fault, gibson actually didnt admit to putting holes in the body til someone randomly x-ray'd a les paul and saw the holes. i think that was some time in the 90's and gibson was getting trashed in the p.r. department. and finally they admitted that they had been doing it since the early/mid 80's

  • @JKryanX That is something I had forgotten about...I remember having to take a test back in the late 80's...I was working at their biggest (single store location) dealer...they wanted us extremely knowledgeable and there were prizes if you scored high...I think I got a cheesey nylon jacket...(let me know if you're interested...lol), and aside from having to know all the different pickups available (which I've also pretty much forgotten), that was on there also...thanks for refreshing my memory!

  • @greengtrs i love all your vids. but im going to shed some light on usa les pauls for you. all non reissue les pauls (classics are not reissues) since the mid 80's have been weight relived, most by swiss cheese holes. then later the standars and studios were chambered. if you want to verify this go to the lespaulforum. there is a whole page with all the les paul specs.

  • @JKryanX Depends what year...these older ones were solid...the newer ones were swiss cheesed (which I actually like...I love Semi-Hollows and it gets you a kind of Semi-Hollow-ish Les Paul which is not for everybody and especially not the purists but I love the weight relief and the sound of them cranked with some gain on the verge of feeding back)...not sure about the short or long neck tenon but it was still a very nice guitar. Thanks for watching!

  • nice guitar but the classic is not a reissue of a 1960 les paul. it just says it on the pickguard. it has swiss cheese holes in it, and a shot neck tenon.

  • ewww...bees in a can
