My almost new Ford Mustang GT 5.0 2011 with Ford Racing GT500 axleback exhaust. This is a exhaust sound clip: first few revs between ~2000-3000rpm, last revving around 5000rpm. Otherwise car is bone stock and have 1200 miles on it.

GT500 sounds definitely much deeper than stock exhaust, but it is not so much louder. When accelerating you can still clearly hear the difference and after 5000rpm sound is totally different. I highly recommend this exhaust. No drone at all at any rpm and live it sounds much better than in this vid.

  • Hey, maybe you can help me please, I have a 2011 GT Premium, and I'm looking for that better sound. How much did you pay for the two? Which company did you order from? Did you perform the install, or take it to the shop? How long, how much? Simple bolt-on? Is there DRONE at cruise? Also, how much estimated HP and Torque gain? And, if you add Cold Air Intake, how much more gain? Sorry for so many questions. Please let me know, thanks so much!

I paid about $260 shipped from LateModelRestoration. I took it to the shop and paid $60 to install. It is simple bolt on and took only 30 minutes. No drone at all at any rpm. There is no hp or torque gain with these mufflers. It is only for better sound. Sound is amazing compared to stock. I think these mufflers are best bang for the buck! :-)

  • @pokkusmon Thank you for the info, very helpful. I plan to buy from LateModelRestoration and have installed at my shop here. Will adding CAI (in addition) be beneficial, in your opinion?

  • @PeterReingold

I would not buy CAI without tune. CAI is pretty useless without the tune.

  • OMG Awesome your Ford :)

If your pal have changed his 5.0 stock exhaust to Ford Racing GT500 exhaust (mufflers only), then I think you both already have same exhaust. Because I think that these Ford Racing GT500 mufflers are stock parts on Mustang Shelby GT500, but I am not 100% sure. Maybe you should verify this from your dealer.

  • i got a shelby 2011 and was wanting to get a new exhaust aswell. my pal got a 5.0 with a (the dealers words, i have no idea): Ford Racing Exhaust. i liked the sound so i decided thats what im gonna get for my gt500, question: is it the exact same for the 5.0 and for the gt500 or are there differences? cant seem to figure it out online so i thought i asked here

  • @grasshopper0223

    Thanks! :)

I didn´t measure the weight of the GT500 mufflers, but I think that the weight is almost same than stock, because the both mufflers are so identical from outside.

  • @pokkusmon wow that does sound awesome. It's all about personal prefrence though. I like loud just not ear bleeding loud so I went with the roush axle back. But recently got pretty much handed a set of the borla s type axle backs....can't wait to get them on. Were these any lighter than the stock mufflers or are they about the same?
