Laughlin, NV (KTNV) -- The man who police say drove his car into a Laughlin casino, killing two women and inuring seven others, is out on bail. 70-year-old Walter McGie was released on $6,000 bail pending arraignment on two felony charges of reckless driving causing death.

The Clark County Coroner's office is releasing the names of the two women who was killed in the February 3rd crash at the Edgewater Hotel and Casino.

81-year-old Helen Hindmand of Lincoln, NE, was killed as a result of multiple blunt force trauma. Her son, Reed Hindmand, tells Action News his mother was about a month into her annual trip to Mesa, AZ. He says she was on a bus trip to Laughlin. Hindmand leaves behind four sons and 11 grandchildren. 74 year old Helene Walker also died in the crash. She was visiting from Mesa, Arizona.

Police say McGie ran a red light at Casino Drive and started going to the Edgewater Casino entrance when his car hit a median. The car reportedly continued driving at a high rate of speed when it drove through the front glass doors of the casino.

Investigators do not suspect that McGie was drinking, however police say they found no evidence that he attempted to brake before the crash.

The Pontiac, with Washington plates, plowed into nearby game players and bulldozed a number of slot machines.

A number of witnesses describe sheer panic in the moments after the impact.

"I saw blood. I saw bodies," said Mark Shetterly, who says he works at the casino's sports book. "There was just carnage everywhere."

Those who were nearby at the time say there was little to no warning before car the came crashing through, coming to rest 35 feet into the casino.

"I just heard boom boom boom. I thought it was an explosion," said Donald Ellis, who was getting ready to check in to a room at the Edgewater Hotel. "The people that got hurt, you've got to feel sorry for them, because no one could've expected that. There was no brakes. There were no noises, just an explosion."

Police say the injuries of the seven people taken to Nevada and Arizona Hospitals range from minor to critical..
