  • @weeren58 I don't know of any websites but just do a Google search. It would be useful in HS band if you could get them to understand the concept of loud , dark, beautiful sound. Most musicians at that level think it is cool just to play loud and don't understand the difference.

  • @Donimator002 Hello just asking and learning. :). Is it useful to implement this half-valving exercise in my HS band's warm up? btw do you any website about this half-valving thing.. explainin the uses and stuff. that would be helpful

  • @Duskepuden It is half-valving which creates a lot of resistance. You are supposed to relax into the resistance of the horn and then when you open the valves the sound will be full and dark (not to mention loud)

  • Best overtone in DCI. No camera can properly capture it.

  • @Duskepuden From what I can understand, they seem to be half valving, which is basically pushing your valves a portion of the way down as opposed to all the way. It creates resistance, which is why the sound at 2:38 is produced.

Why do they do it? No idea; I am simply a woodwind player.

  • OK - I got a question for you guys I hope you can answer to me...

I am a horn player myself, but from Denmark, so have got no experience with the way you guys exercise. What I would like to know, is right after they went through the deep and high tones, they went into some kind of mix before starting on a piece.

What and how is it they do it? Vocalizing while setting a tone or???

Hoping to learn something new :)

  • @Lightrix13 im not sure why everyone is oppose your comment

  • Ya know, this is the first place I've ever seen where something bad was said about Phantom Regiment. Just sayin.
