  • Aww -I remember this well, there was a lot of anti French crap floating around, the english authorities gave him a hard time, the weather on the day was sh1t -then to add insult to injury, just after this interview some jumped up twat performed a song called "that's why I hate the French". I'm glad I'm Scottish :-)

Well, f**k all that, I went to BOTH gigs, and they were fantastic...viva M. Jarre -j'aime beaucoup votre musique.

  • I agree - it was in very bad taste - i to felt it was bad the way Jean Michel was put on a show where there was alot of anti-french stuff on it. And i feel the song performed by Howard Goodall was a step to far. The only good bit of which was the line where he sang "but i wouldnt mind an organ like Jean Michel Jarre's!". I do have the entire show and watched it recently. Thank Goodness Jean Michel has a good sense of humour as he needed it this night with all the shit that was thrown at him!

  • As an Englishman, I'd just like to say that I think the French people in general are just like any other. Good and bad in everyone everywhere. Although if you have a poor grasp at speaking French whilst in Paris, you will be sneered at; "Do not ruin my beautiful language, English merde!" they would probably say to you!

  • He took the questions well, a true gentleman. I was a bit shocked at the slant the interview took though, Sue Lawley went from interviewing in a gentle teasing manner into spitting almost xenophobic remarks at him!

Just to clear things up, no not everyone hates their neighbours. :)

  • Actually, he looks much better now, in his 60s.. :)

  • Im sorry my Country was so mean to you Jean, jealous of your unique talent Id say :)

  • Nice interview. But some of those questions were going off the tangent. I mean what was all this talk about British women and Margaret Thatcher?

  • I was there on the first night - the weather was a bit chilly and there was the odd bit of drizzle, but it was far from 'shit' - that was the second night.

  • Yes it is, I think most People have moved on from that crap now.

  • wow, this anti-French sentiment seems so dated now.
