This Concorde holds the world record for traveling JFK -- Heathtrow, one way, in 2:52:59. Not even military aircraft can match this time without refueling. In the video you can see the world record time written in the sealing and signed by the captain.
A Spanish golf player named Jose Maria Olazabal holds the world record for the longest whole in one in history onboard this exact BA AD flight. He did a hole in one in 1999 on the London -- Boston route from the back of the plane all the way up the aisle (150 foot cabin in 26.17 seconds) at supersonic speed mach 2 (1482mph/2386km/h). I think the distance the golf ball traveled equals 9.2miles/14.8km. The same trip also holds the record for this route at 3:06:00.
At the end of the video you can see the expansion crack, where it was possible to put a hand in during flight because of the air friction causing the flight body to heat up to about 100deg Celsius (with the white BA paint, hotter with the PEPSI painting). At the last flights with the Concorde plains some of the captains put their hat in the 2 inch crack before landing so it got stuck when the body cooled down..
A thanks to the incredible, well informed and passionate guide on our 1.5 hours tour at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in Manhattan, NY. Recommended.
No one by Alicia Keys is a great song as a tribute to the concorde.
