I got to know Boomer quite well while I was still a Radio Program and Music Director. Boomer told me what hurt "Judy Mae" the most was the loss of his distribution deal with Mums Records. Mums was a small label which ultimately went bankrupt about the time the song was ready to break nationally. Without the promotion and distribution, the tune lost all momentum, stalled and mid-charted. He secured another deal with another label but it was too late. The song deserved a much better fate.
Great guitarist, good song. Amazing drummer.

I want every one to know that Boomer was not playing for tips that night! He was there and got up on stage because he was asked to! I can't believe I let that bucket get in my video! Geez...I'm sorry Boomer!

I remember this song from 1975!! It was a VERY CONTROVERSIAL record back then because of the lyric. I remember listening to this kick ass song on my transistor radio...The only place I heard it play was on Casey's American Top 40... Thanks for this post....This is one of the most UNDERRATED songs of the 70s...Should have been a bigger hit!
