The Third Place (Playstation 2) Directed by David Lynch

A concentration of Lynchian themes and motifs. The escape into a parallel universe of video games is close to schizophrenia, a subject recurrent in Lynch's work. In Twin Peaks, many characters have doubles. In Lost Highway, we experiment the schizophrenia of Fred Madison. Indeed, the movie is mostly a pathological mental construction of reality, as seen by a troubled man. This explains many apparent incoherences of this complex and fascinating work

Part of the rollout of Sony's new Playstation 2 game console. This trailer was showing in theaters in Europe. It was shot on a two day shoot in LA in 2000. The commercial is the result of eighteen months of ad agency research, in which staff tested five ideas on early adopters across Europe. 'The Third Place' was the only one that captured the test groups' imaginations.

Yep this. It became a commercial but parts were cut from it. He directed a few other for the sony campaign

I remember everyone at school talked about this and was very confused and asked what has this got to do with PlayStation 2. Imagine if Lynch directed a commercial for a chocolate bar.

You can almost understand it if you get lynch, but does anyone really "get" lynch. Imagine how freaky seeing this in a theater would be though.
