Because the human put the animal in a position where it wasn't supposed to be in the first place. In the wild, such things happen by chance - where the cat actively goes out to hunt. A human took the animal and gave it to the cat.

People eat far more meat than is needed, so the necessary (not necessarily, that word is used incorrectly here) farming argument is invalid. If we were only farming what animals were necessary the farms would be smaller, and there would be fewer of them. Not to mention the pigs, chickens, cows, etc. go through far more suffering in their daily lives than that rat up there went through.

If you can't see that many farming practices today are cruel and unnecessary, the YOU are the idiot here.
