    This is a very minimalist production in which one object can be used to symbolize many different things. It's his chair at one point and in this particular song he uses it to symbolize Johanna the only way he remembers her, as the baby he left when he was exiled.

    Could somebody please explain to me what that white box that Sweeney keeps on holding and picking up is? I saw in 'God that's Good' he says that it's his chair, but it clearly isn't haha. Please help :)

    i saw this show/cast twice. and as an avid new york theater goer thats seen some an amazing musicals and plays, i can honestly say Michael Cerveris' as Sweeney Todd was the most amazing performance I have EVER seen. so amazing.
