I would suggest testing out your jack first. You'll realize it has a few quirks. Very cool product, though!

what about caller id and other phone options, do they work?

it had probelms in the past....but they are getting much better with it....check out their stock (CALL) it has been and will continue blowing up as better consumer reports start coming in

Sure, the only annoyance is the magicjack software pops up when you make or receive a call. It doesn't interfere with the processing power of the computer. To combat this I took an old laptop I had and hardwired it to my router for best possible connectivity and installed the magicjack on that. I then plugged my phone which came with 5 satellite phones into the magicjack. I haven't noticed any big quality or reliability problems. An occasional annoyance but well worth it for the crazy low price.

My dad used to have Magic Jack, it sucks. One whenever you recieve a call, you get one hell of an annoying pop up on your computer. Another is that the quality is horrible.

I have been think about dropping my local phone company for a long time. I have a cell phone and am paying $43 a mo for my landline. Considering the fact I rarely use my landline regardless of how bad the magic jack might be I could be getting rid of about $450 a year. As long as I can use my pc with no problems it would be worth it to me.

What a dodo, people are on here to find out peoples experience with the magic jack not someone who is just thinking about it like a lot of us. You must really have a big ego and are wasting all of our time.

I listened to ramble and you say you recommend the majicjack. As you stated , you do not own one or have even tested it. Why would anyone with half a brain listen to your recommendations.
