Comparison between Vintage 30, G12H30, and the mix in an 2x12 cab. Valveking 112 amp. I tried to improve the clip sound, but on clean mode differences are not audible (and a bad playing choice :-( ). Jump to 1:40, or 2:50.

  • 212 amp = 2 speakers.... did you put inside a V30 and a G12? (at the same time, like if u look inside the amp there is a V30 in one side and a G12 in the other)

sorry im from dominican republic english no really good

  • @flama644 yes, 2different speaker in one cab...one G12H behind my left leg and one V30 behind the right :-)

  • when you used the V30 and the G12, were they both, in the amp sounding at the same time? cuz i rather do that to get a fuller tone rathen than buying a pair of V30s or a pair of G12s

  • @flama644 sorry I don't understand your question.

  • Both sound good. V30 a bit more aggressive and modern voiced. The G12H30 is more classic sounding and bigger top and bottom, but not real thick in the middle. The mix is the best, seems to cover the whole tonal spectrum with the V30 filling out the mids to the G12H30's scoop but bigger top and bottom. My only concern in mixing them, is EQ settings will be harder to find a balance with two very different speakers like that. If I had to pick only one, it would be the G12H30 though.

  • @TattooedCarrot All right. The other matter with mixing is that the V30 is really louder, and needs to pushed to give its best (very difficult at home).

I switched this V30 with a Greenback Heritage now, and to say, It is the best.

  • I have a Peavey 5150 combo loaded with V30's on top of a Marshall vintage/modern 4-12 loaded with G12C Greenbacks. Good combo and I no longer have that pesky wife problem as I have blown her and he underbits out the front door.

  • Hey it´s the Dawid Bowie´s "China Girl" Rythmen Guitar...

  • G12h30 compared to v30, sound more like gt12-75. i want to make a mix on my 4x12 of gt12-75 and vg30. vg30 sound more "real" for me

  • Cool demo. Much more midrange in the V30, and more of a dropped mid sound with the G12H30. The G12H30 sounds "wider" if that makes sense. More beef and punch though with the V30s. The G12H's would probably be a good fit for a hard rock rhthym gtr player, while the V30 seems like more of a lead player's tone. No wonder Slash uses them.

Thanks for the demo. That helps!

  • Check out the heavy hitters...Bogner, Engl, and Mesa are the standards for heavymusic, and there's a reason they fill their cabinets with V30s. They do use greenbacks, T75s, and V60s in some cabs, but their main speakers which do what most people who use their amps want...ball crushing heavy...use V30s. If it's heavy you want, heavy you shall get with V30s. You probably are not going to figure anything out that Mesa, Bogner, and Engl don't already know.

  • G12H-30 all the way!!

  • Want a really nice mix! Try the 2 G12-H 30's and 2 G12-70's in a 4X12 cab. Makes your toes curl! I love V30's by themself.
