@shoulderkolibri - Ben's mom was just MIB, just as Jack's dad, Alex down in the temple, season six Locke (of course), etcetera.
And I think Richard did know, he just didn't say anything.

Richard is smokin. Especially when he's scruffier. I was so happy he got off the island. I felt really bad for his whole back story though.

@Devalera23 - Yes, it is a bit weird... this is 1973, then look at 1974, when Sawyer had the chat with him.
And in 1972, when he tried to "recruit" teen-Locke... why didn't he show himself? Because of the current "Hippie-look"? XD

@Devalera23 I agree but, if you think about it, he looks like he lives in a tent because he does live in a tent at this point. Maybe it was just a deception for DHARMA by making them think that they (the others) had access to no resources at all and couldn't get off the Island (like they did in season 2).
